Furano Rusutsu - Furano 5 hrs
Tokyo Furano - Tokyo 5 hrs

The largest and most northern prefecture in Japan, Hokkaido provides endless rolling mountains and is known for receiving particularly dry powder in vast quantities. The unspoilt landscapes and minimal population make this a true adventure. Our Hokkaido Safari combines three resorts: Niseko, Rusutsu and Furano, followed by two nights in Tokyo. The recommended itinerary below provides a guide on how to best combine the resorts and city, but this can be changed depending on how much skiing, travelling and sightseeing you want to do.

Sample 14-night itinerary

Days 1-6 – Fly overnight from London to Tokyo and catch a connecting flight up to Sapporo Chitose. It is then a 2.5-3 hour transfer to Niseko where you will stay at the slopeside 4* Green Leaf Hotel. Spend 4 days skiing Niseko and relax in the hotel onsen (hot spring) or visit a local noodle bar in the evenings

Days 7-9 – Check-out of your Niseko hotel and catch a private transfer across to Rusutsu. As it is only a short 45 minute drive, you should get almost a full day of skiing on day 7, and day 8 will allow you to ski the resort for a full day. After the second night you catch a transfer to Sapporo Chitose Airport, where you change buses to get to Furano with a total travel time of approximately 5 hours. Check in at the New Furano Prince Hotel.

Days 10-12 – Ski Furano for 3 days and enjoy the more traditional and local village atmosphere. The excellent grooming in resort is renowned, and the snow quality is exceptional for powder – there are a number of access points for backcountry skiing, but remember to register with the ski patrol first.

Days 13-15 – Transfer back to Sapporo Chitose for a flight to Tokyo Haneda, from which it is only 30 minutes to the 3* Hotel Shiba Park in the city centre. You will have a full day of sightseeing before heading back to the airport on the last day for your flight back to the UK.
