Canada’s second largest ski area, Sun Peaks has the ultimate in ski-in ski-out convenience, plus an exciting programme of non-ski activities.

Spread across three mountains, the skiing combines steeps on Tod Mountain with cruisers on Sundance and glades on Morrisey. All levels can ski together, and the ski school is reliably good.

There’s also a huge variety of other activities, from First Tracks breakfast tours to evening descents. And if you’re visiting with little ones, the Sundance Kids Centre has a daily childcare programme for children from 18 months to five years.

You’ll find a good range of bars and family-friendly restaurants in the Tyrolean-style village, as well as après activities that include segway tours and sleigh rides. The annual winter wine festival is another great addition, and we always try to catch a Kamloops Blazers Hockey match when we’re here.

To experience more, Sun Peaks ski holidays make a great combination with Whistler - our Whistler Peaks Ski Safari gives you the chance to ski Canada’s two largest ski areas on the same trip.

Every holiday is tailor-made, just for you.

Interesting skiing with different charactertics to the different areas: lots of fun. We were a little disappointed that some of the areas marked as glades had not been well maintained (we skied down a bike track), and there were flat bits on some of the connections. Resort is pretty and very good food at Powder Hounds and Bella Italia.

Snow great, slopes great. Plenty of room to spread out and even at the busiest times you can get "ski and quiet". The restaurants are a bit pricey but everything else is excellent. Everything is compact except the ski area and makes getting around easy. Everything is well maintained and in good condition making the whole resort look top class. Self catering options would be good.

This is a superb resort with a small village and vast ski area, which is suitable for all levels of skiers. The lifts cope very well with the numbers even during the busier weekends - there are never lengthy waits. Once you are on the mountain, you can stay at the top and ski for hours without returning to the base - although, then you'd miss Bolacco's coffee bar and pastries! The piste map is comprehensive yet simple, there are only twelve lifts in the resort but they feed three hills and huge ski areas. This is one of the friendliest resorts we have ever been to; the locals are proud of their village and it shows - everyone chats on the lifts. Is it worth it? Nine and a half hours flight to Vancouver, 40 minute very bumpy flight to Kamloops and an hour transfer in a snowstorm? It is worth every minute of the journey (even the landing at Kamloops); the skiing, the friendly locals and the restaurants - I recommend them all. Favourite places to eat are the Steakhouse, Bella Italia and Morrisey's - all different types of fayre, but all superb.

The ski season is now just weeks away! While a handful of resorts are already offering limited glacier skiing, most will be fully open by the end of November. Deep Steep Tree Skiing in Canada

8th April 2016 - Vicky Bamford

Andy, Luke and I headed back to Canada this winter in search of one thing - powder. Mission accomplished. Our careful planning took us to three incredible resorts: Revelstoke in BC, the home of heli-skiing and some of the deepest snow in Canada, followed by Big White and Sun Peaks in the Okanagan,...
