The two ski areas of Voss Resort and Voss Fjellandsby (in nearby Myrkdalen) are great for families and intermediates, with gentle runs at the top of the mountain.

A magnet for adrenaline sports, this lakeside town has hosted an extreme sports week since 1998. For confident skiers, we love the thigh-burning Horgaletten downhill and, if you’re into off-piste, Voss is renowned for its powder.

This historic town has nurtured more winter Olympic athletes than anywhere else in the world. Brits always receive a warm welcome here - we were among the first tourists to visit back in the 19th century and, in the 1960s, ski holidays in Voss became a major focus.

The buzzing town bursts to life each March when freeriders, kite-skiers and skydivers arrive for extreme sports week. Easily reached by train from Bergen or Oslo, Voss is perfectly placed for a city add-on, or you could combine with Geilo on our Fjords and Mountains Ski Safari.

Every holiday is tailor-made, just for you.

Really enjoyed it. Lovely place. Great hotel and the skiing was quiet during the week.

We liked the resort-a good range of different runs and the lift staff were all helpful and friendly. The range of food available was basic (especially for a vegetarian) but that was fine. It was quiet when we were there: no queues which made a lovely change from the French Alps. We went to Myrkdalen for a day and that is very different. It had snowed but I think the snow coverage was probably better anyway:perfectly covered Pistes but not the variety of Voss.

Second visit to Voss, good selection of runs and very helpful staff. Great ski school and nice atmosphere. Although a little quiet in town perfect for families
