The USA’s largest single ski area, this historic silver mining town is just 45 minutes from Salt Lake City.

In 2015/16, Park City merged with Canyons to become the USA’s largest single ski area. Connected by a high-speed gondola, the ski area spans more than 7,300 acres, with 17 peaks and 14 bowls, so it gives a real feeling of travelling while cruising along tree-lined groomers. The off-piste glade skiing is fantastic, with many areas easily accessible to first-time powder skiers and riders. Snowboarders are also in their element, with superb terrain parks and six natural half-pipes.

The town’s colourful buildings are home to atmospheric bars, restaurants and swanky shops. Non-ski activities include bobsleighing in the Olympic Park and whisky tasting at the world's only ski-in distillery, while January sees the annual Sundance Film Festival.

Park City is also a great base for visiting the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas or other Utah resorts - see our Utah and Las Vegas Ski Safari to find out more.

Park City is great easy to get to from Salt Lake City, as a town it is well served with shops and restaurants, the one observation is that you need a car, the supermarkets are away from most accommodation and it was easier to get to slopes by driving in particular Deer Valley.

Our second visit to PC. We had a wonderful time. The gondola link between Canyons and PC is brilliant. The powder was kind to us when we got there. Unfortunately a number of runs were closed because the snow fall has been lower than normal. Still had a great ski though.

Everything was perfect. (Apart from lack of snow, that is beyond your control!) My husband says it is Paradise on Earth!
