This former gold mining town is popular for good reason. With an authentic vibe and sunny weather, the high altitude makes it snow sure well into April. Part of the Epic Pass, you can ski up to five resorts in total, using Breckenridge as a base.
Divided into five linked ‘Peaks’, the ski area is genuinely good for all abilities. There are wide runs for beginners and cruisey blues for intermediates, while the black runs on Peak 10 descend through challenging bowls and glades. With an excellent ski school, Breckenridge ski holidays are also great for families.
The historic town is full of character, with clapboard houses and welcoming locals. Non-skiers have more than 180 shops to peruse, as well as outlet shopping in nearby Silverthorne. Evenings are lively, with more than 80 restaurants and bars around busy Main Street, while the après activities include snowmobiling, ice sculpting and mine tours.
