Less than two hours from Oslo, the resort of Norefjell (pronounced Nora-Fee-Yell) hosted the Winter Olympics in 1952. Since then, it’s stayed relatively under the radar - we think it’s well worth discovering.
In a wooded section of the Scandes Mountains, the ski area has Norway’s greatest vertical drop - you can ski all the way from the summit to the frozen lake below. Although the black pistes are some of Norway’s steepest, most of the terrain is better suited to beginners and improvers. And with the ski school managed by Norway's former national ski team coach, learners are in good hands.
The ski-in ski-out accommodation sits at mid-altitude, so you can slide downhill each morning, or catch a lift to the summit. Off the slopes, the focus is on relaxing in the spa and activities such as indoor climbing rather than après drinking. This makes ski holidays in Norefjell a great choice for families.
