Step back into Norway’s past with a stay at the historic boutique hotel Store Ringheim, located on open rural slopes at the base of Hangur Mountain.
Store Ringheim has a rich history spanning over two millennia and has been an agricultural hub since pre-Viking times. The largest of the Ringheim farms (store means large in Norwegian), Store Ringheim has been lovingly restored and reimagined into a fifteen-room boutique hotel by the current owners and hosts, Svein and Jorunn.
Rooms are located in one of two buildings: The Old Farmhouse called "Gardshuset" and the Old Tool Shed called "Reiskapshuset". All rooms have electric heating and modern bathrooms as standard.
Gardshuset has six historic rooms dating from 1860, with the oldest dating to the mid-1600s. They typically feature exposed wood and have a more rustic feel, with a handful of rooms complete with fireplaces or wood burners for added cosiness!
Reiskapshuset has nine modern hotel rooms, featuring more Victorian-inspired country decor, with white panelling, ornate fixtures and textiles boasting bright pops of colour. The rooms are all named after the surrounding mountains, many of which you can see from your window.
The on-site restaurant - Flor'n - is in the converted barn, where you can enjoy your breakfast. Food served here focuses on seasonal recipes, with ingredients sourced from the Voss area.
Getting to Voss Gondol is straightforward from Store Ringheim, thanks to the free shuttle bus that transports you to/from the station and Voss Resort. It only takes about 10 minutes and passes beautiful scenery on route. To make sure it's available for when you need it, the shuttle must be pre-booked.
