4* Scandic Voss

The lakeside rooms from higher floors have a stunning view, as does the sauna. The location, only a minute from the train station and the gondola, could not be more convenient. The hotel itself was busy and buzzing, mainly with families with children, and had a warm friendly vibe. The decor in the rooms was fairly basic and breakfast could be very busy (eg trouble finding a table, lost children trying to find their families) when a tour bus was in, but was generally manageable if we arrived early. There was ample storage in the rooms but in odd places, like a hanging rack above the bed. We would stay here again for the experience of skiing in Voss.

The hotel at Voss is great. It's next door to the Gondola that takes you up at the slopes, the sauna is very spacious and with lovely views. The breakfast is fantastic and it has plenty to choose from, only con to that, it's that everyday it's the same variety, so I would recommend trying something new everyday if you are staying for a few days, so that you don't get bored. Also the town is very nice, although things close very early 5/6pm. The beds were the only negative for me, since they are individual beds and the mattresses are quite thin, however, it is the traditional nordic style.

Scandic Voss was perfect. Right next to the train station and the Gondola, and close to the centre of town - which had a variety of restaurants, food outlets and shops. The hotel itself is beautifully designed, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The highlight of the stay had to be the food in the hotel - the breakfast was simply amazing - the choice was very varied and the standard of the food was incredibly high. The food at dinner was also amazing. For a large hotel it is very efficiently run and the customer service was fantastic, everyone was friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend Scandic Voss and look forward to returning there.
