The Okanagan Valley has some of British Columbia’s best all-ability skiing and we’ve based this ski safari around three of its best resorts - Big White, Sun Peaks and Silver Star. Perfect for mixed groups or families, you can ski a huge variety of terrain in all three, while the drives between them are easy.

Big White has been a Ski Safari favourite for many years. It's one of Canada's friendliest family resorts, famous for its huge snowfalls that turn the trees into ‘snow ghosts'. The second-largest resort in Canada, Sun Peaks has a great range of après ski activities, while Silver Star has a two-sided ski area with beginner slopes on the south face and steep chutes on the back side.

Completely flexible, you can spend as much time in each resort as you like. To arrive and depart from the same airport, it’s best to start and finish in Silver Star or Big White but it's just as easy flying to/from both Kelowna and Kamloops. And, although we recommend self-driving, you can use the resort transfers if you’d prefer not to drive - just ask our team to tell you more.

"Great for maximising your ski time, these resorts all have ski-in ski-out accommodation, quiet slopes and no lift queues. A hire car is better than the shuttles to help you make the most of your time - no one likes waiting for the bus."

Suggested itinerary

This sample itinerary is our suggestion of how you could divide your time between the resorts. All our ski safaris are completely tailor-made and can be adjusted to suit your preferences.

Day 1

Leave the UK and fly to Kelowna. From Kelowna, it's an easy hour's drive to Big White.

Days 2 to 5

Ski Big White for four days. The food here is exceptional. The Okanagan is renowned for its food and wine, and you'll find plenty of it in Big White. On the afternoon of day five, drive 1 hour 45 minutes to Silver Star.

Days 6 to 9

Ski Silver Star for four days. Why not have a go at fat biking - the resort has over 15km of dedicated trails. Or try your hand at cross-country skiing – there are over 100km of trails. On the afternoon of day nine, drive 2 hours 30 minutes to Sun Peaks.

Days 10 to 14

Ski Sun Peaks for five days. For a special evening, book onto the Alpine Fondue & Starlight Descent - a fabulous meal followed by a 5-mile groomed run to the Village by moonlight and headtorch.

Day 15

Drive less than an hour to Kamloops for your flight home.

Three great resorts, all similar but with their own strengths and weaknesses. All are genuine ski in and ski out which is fantastic and the villages all have enough to keep you going. Those wanting great apres ski night-life a la Austria would be disappointed probably, but all three resorts are more family oriented (thank goodness, as we couldn't sleep in St Anton for drunk revellers staggering ho…

A big adventure with interesting insights into the mindset of Rockies dwelling Canadians. Two of our transfer drivers claimed to be ex train drivers. I even met an ex F4 Phantom pilot on one of the chairlifts.

Actually visited Revelstoke, Silver Star, (Big White for an afternoon), Red/Rossland, Nelson/Whitewater and Fernie. Very good skiing at each, and we were very well advised re the number of days in each place.
