Alberta Rockies Ski Safari
This sample 14-day itinerary is our suggestion of how you could divide your time between skiing, winter activities and road-trips.
Leave the UK and fly to Calgary. Pick up your hire car – it is a 2.5 hour drive to Lake Louise.
You will ski Lake Louise for 4 days. A must for any visit to Lake Louise is to visit the lake (frozen in winter). You can go ice skating, walking or take a horse drawn sleigh ride. In the distance you will see the spectacular Victoria Glacier – you may even see an ice fall – a rare but amazing sight. After this, sit back and relax in the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise with a hot chocolate.
An early start is best as today you will drive the Icefields Parkway - linking Lake Louise with Jasper. Rated as one of the top drives in the world by Condé Nast Traveller, the Icefields Parkway is a 232 km stretch of double-lane highway winding along the Continental Divide through soaring rocky mountain peaks, icefields and vast sweeping valleys. There will be lots of stopping for photos! And mid-way there is a glacier observation point and you can even get a 4x4 bus ride out onto the glacier itself.
