Alberta Rockies Ski Safari Customer Reviews

We have recently returned from a wonderful 12 days in Alberta, Canada on the Fairmont Rockies Safari staying in Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper. Thanks to the excellent organisation by Andy Knights the holiday went very smoothly from picking up the hire car at Calgary airport to dropping it off 12 days later. Our skis and lift passes were ready and waiting for us at our first stop at Banff where we loved the majestic and imposing Banff Springs Hotel. After 3 days skiing at Norquay and Sunshine Village we headed to Lake Louise. It is a short journey from Banff village to Mt. Norquay and somewhat further to Sunshine Village so you need to take this into consideration when planning your day. The location of Château Lake Louise is breathtaking and for us the skiing here was the best of the 3 resorts with very varied and challenging skiing. It is definitely worth paying the extra for a Lake View room. It is only a short journey from the hotel to the ski slopes but there is no real village at Lake Louise so outside the hotel there is not much else to do if you don’t ski! Jasper has its own unique charm and is a good family resort with a few challenging slopes but it is about 25 kms from the hotel and car parking can be difficult on busy weekends so be prepared. Jasper Park Lodge Hotel is very different from the other 2 hotels with log cabins set around the frozen lake. The drive across the Icefields Parkway is beautiful but beware, weather conditions can change very rapidly and you need to be prepared for ice, snow drifts and blizzards! We thoroughly enjoyed our Fairmont experience and would not hesitate in recommending Ski Safari.
