Fairmont Rockies Safari
The ultimate in romance, luxury and stunning scenic skiing - the Fairmont Rockies Safari is one of the very best! It combines skiing at the stunning and varied resorts of Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper with superb luxury accommodation and one of the most spectacular drives in the world.
The resorts of Sunshine Village (25 mins from Banff) and Lake Louise are huge. Each mountain offers an enormous variety of terrain, the average snowfall is impressive, the crowds few and if there are more scenic skiing destinations on this planet I’ve yet to see them! The luxurious accommodation at the 5* Fairmont Banff Springs and the 5* Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise is perfect for relaxing after a day’s hard skiing or snowboarding.
After Banff and Lake Louise you’ll head onto the beautiful town of Jasper and the great ski resort of Marmot Basin, one of Canada's quietest and friendliest resorts. To get there you have a 3hr drive along one of the world’s most scenic highways - the Icefields Parkway – where you’ll really get to appreciate the size and magnificence of the Rocky Mountains. The 4*+ Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge is an ideal place to unwind, enjoy a glass of wine and look out over the glorious Lac Beauvert with its mountainous backdrop.
Sample 12-night Itinerary:
Below is a suggested itinerary to show how the resorts might best be combined. Our holidays are tailor-made - you can stay for any duration at any combination of the resorts - though the offers below makes staying for at least 4 nights in each property an attractive option…
Days 1-4:
Fly into Calgary in the afternoon and pick up your vehicle for the 1 1/2 hour hr drive to Banff, where you’ll stay in the luxurious 5* Fairmont Banff Springs. The lively town of Banff is a great place to let your hair down for a few days, with great skiing at Sunshine and Mount Norquay and fantastic nightlife.
Days 5-8:
The drive to Lake Louise will take around 40 minutes and you’ll stay in the magnificent 5* Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. Spend 4 days exploring the extensive and varied terrain of Lake Louise’s two mountains, even drive to Kicking Horse for the day (approx 1 ½ hrs away), and enjoy the luxurious accommodation with its stunning views of the frozen lake before setting off to Jasper.
Days 9-12:
The Icefields Parkway - the road that links Lake Louise and Jasper - is lined with famous emerald lakes (frozen in winter!), craggy peaks and glaciers. It can be done in about 3 hrs, but it is worth taking your time and admiring the truly incredible scenery. We suggest you spend up to 4 nights in Jasper staying at the 5* Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge to enjoy the un-crowded slopes of Marmot Basin and après ski activities in Jasper town.
Day 13:
The final leg is the drive to Edmonton where you can either choose to spend a day shopping at Edmonton Mall (the World's largest entertainment and shopping centre), taking advantage of the tax free shops or catch your flight back home.
This Safari can also be done in reverse. It is also possible to do this Safari using transfers however we do advise car hire to get the most out of the trip and to give you complete flexibility.
