Colorado's oldest continually-run ski resort, Winter Park is a serious winter playground that’s relatively undiscovered by British skiers.

Close to Denver Airport, with fantastic snow and more than 3,000 acres of terrain ski holidays in Winter Park are surprisingly under the radar in the UK ski market. We don’t think it’ll be long before the secret gets out.

Each of the resort's ‘seven territories’ provides a different experience, depending on the level of challenge you’re after. There’s everything from the infamous moguls at Mary Jane to the fabulous groomers on Winter Park’s front face. The dedicated beginners’ area is fantastic for kids, and to experience another resort you can ski at Steamboat on the same lift pass.

At the base of the mountain, the cosy village is excellent value for money. Recent developments have added new bars, restaurants and shops but the atmosphere is low key - this isn’t a resort for party animals.

Every holiday is tailor-made, just for you.

Great in all ways and the snow and quietness just made it for us. Quite a compact resort in comparison to our usual resorts in Europe. We had looked at piste maps for the USA resorts before booking and the main reason for coming to Colorado was snow quality. We opted for Steamboat and thought we could do a week in Winter Park too. The size of the resort didn't matter as we found enough scope with the runs, Because the snow was so good there are many options for skiing. Some of the black runs are challenging because they don't get groomed and the bumps were huge. Some black diamond runs were more straightforward but not all!! Off Eagle ridge the tree runs were quite amazing with NO obvious trail in quite dense forrest! All well organised. Some of the lifts are quite slow but as the resort was quiet it didn't really matter. Mountain restaurants were great. Again not busy and allowed you to have your own packed lunch in some places.

A great resort as you have the ski village and Winterpark town.

Resort is great for all skill level's. Good choice of eateries and bars. Not as quaint as older European alpine resorts but this is a man made customer ski area.

The ski season is now just weeks away! While a handful of resorts are already offering limited glacier skiing, most will be fully open by the end of November. Two weeks ago we took a look at the first snowfall photos across the USA, now the rest of the world is catching up. Most notably, Whistler...
