Winter Park Resort Guide

Insider tips from our team

On the Slopes

Free Guided Mountain Tours - these 10am daily tours are a great way to see the mountain and find the local’s favourite or secret stashes. All participants must be of intermediate or better standard. Lift ticket is required.

Beginners - the green runs in the award-winning Discovery Park are easily accessible for beginners and children.

Intermediates - the Pioneer Express and Olympia Express up on Vasquez Ridge offer a huge amount of variety and can be mixed up with a few of the nice single black runs.

Advanced - Mary Jane is where it's at with enough chutes, bumps and tree runs to bring a tear to the eye of even the most adventurous. For the real extreme stuff head to Vasque Cirque.

For the boarders - try Snoasis with its outdoor BBQ and join in the action on the Dark Territory Terrain Park.

General

Childcare - located in the Kids’ Ski and Ride School in Winter Park and runs daily for children aged 2 months to 6 years.

Transportation - the free cabriolet runs from the Vintage Hotel to the base of Winter Park. There is also free public transportation between the Mountain and the towns of Winter Park and Fraser, including an adaptive shuttle for those who need it.

Weather - Colorado prides itself on 300 days of sunshine a year, and at 10,000 feet even on a cloudy day, you will tan. Have your sunscreen with you at all times and remember on a sunny day you need to apply it every 2 hours.

Supermarkets - There is a small general store at the base area in Winter Park resort and a big Safeway and City Market in Fraser, the next town.

Bars and Restaurants

Here are a few of our restaurant recommendations in Winter Park:

  • Deno's Mountain Bistro - Deno's Mountain Bistro has won The Wine Spectator's "Best of Award", they have over 300 wines to choose from.
  • De Antonio’s - voted best Italian & pizza in Grand County.
  • Doc's Roadhouse - craft beer and comfort food served with authentic Colorado hospitality by Zephyr Mountain Lodge (right by the Gondola).
  • Lime - hot, fresh Mexican food and mighty hand-shaken margaritas.
  • Mexicali Tacos - not just tacos! Nachos, quesadillas and more from the streets of Mexico.
  • Pizza Pedal'r - fresh pizza made to order by the slice or whole pie. Worth the wait when it's busy!
  • Stoney's Sports Bar - a classic locals' spot with a good beer and cocktail selection, food meant for sharing and every sport you could possibly want on TV.
  • Vertical Bistro - relaxed dining with locally sourced cuisine and, with fourteen taps, a more low venue to try some local and international craft beers.

On the mountain

  • Dine two miles high at the Lodge at Sunspot for re-energizing on soups, pastas and sandwiches.
  • If you fancy something hearty try The Provisioner at The Lodge for The Grill or Buffalo Sandwiches! This place has fantastic views of the Continental Divide.

Best après - Doc’s Roadhouse is a great night spot.
