Skier or snowboarder

Skier. I tried snowboarding once many years ago and was shockingly bad.

Ski/ boarding history

I skied for the first time on a school ski trip and have since been skiing once or twice each winter. Although I’ve been skiing for a long time now, I find that a private lesson is a very good idea each year to boost confidence and banish bad habits.

Favourite Ski Safari

It’s hard to pick a favourite but it has to be The Utah Powder Hunter Ski Safari. The skiing is extremely vast and varied. I have done this trip twice now and it was even better second time around. The Vancouver Island Ski Safari was also a fantastic trip and I loved the tranquillity and slow pace of Tofino.

Best mountain moment

Flying over the Matterhorn in a helicopter on a bluebird day and landing at the top of the Rothorn like a VIP. I felt incredibly lucky that morning.

Last resorts visited

Trysil, Norway in April 2024 (as a family trip with our 2-year-old daughter) and Narvik, Norway in April 2025.

Next trip

I would love to experience Japan for the first time.

Interesting fact

Experiencing the mountain rescue at Kicking Horse first hand was certainly interesting, especially as it was -30ºC that morning. Let’s just say I wasn’t on an extreme run, I wish I could say I was! The ride in the blood wagon was fast, a little scary and slightly embarrassing as we were skiing with our resort host at the time, oops!

Top ski trip recommendation

Include a city stay to add another experience to your ski holiday. I would highly recommend San Francisco as it’s a fantastic city with so much to see and you can fit a lot into just a couple of days, I have been a number of times and love it there. Las Vegas is also an amazing place and somewhere that everyone should visit, it has to be seen to be believed.

Most of the Ski Safari team have been lucky enough to visit Whistler. As well as exploring the mountains, we’ve tried many of the non-ski activities on offer - ranging from relaxing spas and fine dining tours to adrenaline-inducing experiences.
