Ski Safari
Whilst Kirkwood has areas suited to skiers of all ability levels, advanced and expert terrain is what this resort does best, with thrilling runs for those looking to challenge themselves. One of the most iconic runs 'The Wall', is a heart-pounding descent that drops over 1,500 feet in less than a mile. Combine this with wide-open bowls, steep chutes and tree skiing, you're in for an unforgettable mountain experience.
Regulars to Kirkwood will tell you it's all about the skiing, which means that bars, restaurants and nightlife are more limited compared to neighbouring resorts like Heavenly. But a day trip to Kirkwood simply won’t suffice if you truly want to have some fun on these slopes, and we recommend staying a couple of nights. The on-mountain accommodation is primarily self-catering, so make sure to bring your provisions. Staying here gives you the chance to fully explore the varied terrain and make the most of your time on the mountain.
The best time to hit the slopes at Kirkwood is from mid-December to early April when the snow is at its peak and the conditions are ideal. Plus, Kirkwood is included in the Tahoe Pass along with Northstar and Heavenly, so it would be rude not to take advantage of this extensive access and ski them all while you're here!
