Snowmass is a vast area, with lots of variety and enough great runs to keep us entertained for ten full days. We had lovely fresh snow, no ice and perfectly prepared pistes for the entire trip. The runs are plenty long enough to maximise your time on skies, and the links are all easy to include in your itinerary, so you can spread yourself right across the range of mountains that surround the village - several times a day if you wish. This year we did have some very cold days, but they're manageable if you go prepared. The chair lifts don't have any protection or heating but we coped even on the coldest days. Hand and toe warmers helped! There is one longish gondola you can retire to if you feel the need to warm up a bit. Another great feature is the lack of queues and relative quiet on the slopes. It's four hours from Denver, so most weekenders stop off at any one of the half dozen or more resorts you reach before Snowmass. There are not many mountain restaurants, but those that are there are mostly excellent. Transport around Snowmass is free and frequent. All in all, we love it. We've skied extensively in Europe and in a few US/Canadian places but this is our favourite. Just don't tell anyone.
