We had an amazing amount of snow while we were there, 23cm of the lightest snow one night then another 3 or 4 days where we had between 6-13cm. The runs were well groomed when necessary but not over groomed when fresh snow had fallen. Excellent resort for playing in trees, whatever your level of skiing. Nice walks from the happy valley area and nordic and snow shoe trail pass was included in downhill pass. The grocery store in the village was well stocked and we catered easily for ourselves. We went on the ice hockey trip from Big White which was excellent value and a great night out. Bakery downstairs in the main resort building was fantastic.

Where do I start?? We had enjoyed Breckenridge, been disappointed with Banff then spent 3 years fighting for space with skiers and boarders in Europe. So I booked Big White as we wanted space and powder - and lots of it. It could only happen to us, poor old Canada managed to get itself a heatwave in March. So upon our arrival at the White Crystal Inn, we ditched the fleeces, donned sunscreen and shades and decided to make the best of it. WOW, WERE WE IN FOR A SURPRISE! Despite not getting one tiny snowflake, there was plenty of snow and we had an amazing time. The glorious sunshine and awesome space across the slopes was fantastic. So much choice, with gentle greens slipping into trickier blues and challenging blacks for our more intrepid pal who had done a 3 month teaching course. The lift systems and lack of queues ensured no pause between runs, and the 'ski in, ski out' allowed us to pop back for a bite to eat and get back out there in no time. Each morning, we were greeted with well groomed slopes of lovely snow, with all lifts and runs remaining open. It was with a heavy heart we packed on our last day and headed home. Our pal remains there, and has already taunted us with pictures of the huge dump which arrived immediately we left!! Big White, we will return

This was our first visit to Big White and we loved the resort. There is a good selection of accommodation to cater for all ages and price range. The skiing was excellent, with very few lift queues even on the busy days (which were not many). Big White sells it’s self as a family friendly resort and there are always things to do for kids and family groups. All the staff are helpful and friendly and the laid back approach really makes for a relaxing holiday. The number of restaurants and the variety of cuisine is outstanding for a smallish resort. Minor point. Some of the so called ski in ski out facilities are a bit misleading. Having to take your ski’s off to get from on bit of piste to another is not ski in ski out. Overall a great resort.

We stayed in Big White early Feb 2015. ( 4 x intermediate snowboarders) Its a great mountain with lots of lovely long cruisers and some more challenging terrain if you want to push yourself. The piste map doesn't do it justice. Hardly any queues at lifts and most of the time runs were really quiet. Even by late morning on a powder day you still had first tracks in places. Stayed at Stonebridge Lodge which was just perfect - nothing to find fault with. It has to be the best location on the mountain. Downside - 2 flights from the UK ( it's a heck of a day's travelling ) and we were unlucky with the weather. Although we had snow regularly ( and it is lovely snow ) we also had lots of very poor viz days " big white out". Consequently never got to see the beauty of the place and the whole Gem Lake area was closed for 3 of our 9 days because of poor weather conditions.

Just wanted to let you know that we had a great holiday from start to finish. Katie who is now 6 enjoyed her first skiing lessons and is tackling parallel turns on blue runs (just started doing this). It’s a great place to learn (Big White especially) and the childrens ski school is extremely safe with GPS trackers on the children at all times so even in the fog (yes there was plenty of that at Big White) they can still be found. Grocery shopping in Big White (and Sun Peaks) are fine for a holiday. We were worried that the facilities were limited but they are okay (cheaper to do down in Kelowna so pleased we had the option of doing that though).
