Set in a serene region of fjords and frozen lakes, this modern resort opened in 2003. Myrkdalen is growing each year, yet it is still fairly unknown, with uncrowded slopes and a snow-sure ski area from December to May.
If you’re an expert skier, don’t let the small piste area put you off - there's more off-piste terrain than you might expect. For beginners, the quiet slopes are ideal for building confidence, while intermediates can look forward to some of Europe’s best snow on the wide cruisey runs.
Below the ski area is the ski-in ski-out Myrkdalen Hotel. This is the hub of the resort, with three restaurants and a couple of bars. Après activities include sledging, sleigh rides and, our personal favourite, indoor skydiving at the local wind tunnel.
Approximately two hours from the airport, Myrkdalen is a great option to combine with Bergen, Voss and Geilo for a Norwegian ski safari, while the local fjords and the village of Flåm make for a magical day trip or even an overnight stay.

Myrkdalen’s quiet village has comfortable accommodation in either spacious hotel rooms or self-catering apartments. Super-convenient, both options are ski-in ski-out and sit metres from the ski hire and ski school.
