Snowmass is an excellent resort, with interesting and varied terrain. The gladed skiing was particularly good. It's hard to imagine any level of skier/boarder not having a great time there. The lift system was efficient and there were seldom any queues (only about 5 minutes at Elk Camp a couple of times on the weekend). The people were friendly and locals gave us some good tips. We were in Snowmass for 12 days and skied 11 of them, 8 at Snowmass and one each at the others. Aspen Highlands was also very good, very pretty and very quiet. Transport between the mountains is very easy to use. The resort village is interesting and though there are effectively two (or more) centres it is very easy to get between them. Some of the restaurants get busy (especially the two Italian ones) so you may need to book. Good bars (New Belgian Ranger Station very handy for slopeside lunch also) and restaurants. Snowmass is high and build up the mountainside: if you go to the grocery and liquor stores and buy a lot of liquids, take the shuttle back up the hill! The amazing location far from the madding crowds has the slight drawback of difficulty getting in/out in storms: we had allowed an extra day for delays coming home and it would be sensible to do this, just in case, but don't let that put you off. Snowmass is a great area and having the other mountains really close gives you even more to go at.

Snowmass far exceeded our expectations! The snow and pistes were excellent and almost empty during our entire visit. Customer service in the resort was great, from free coffee/hot apple juice in the mornings, free s’mores, Ambassadors who were available twice a day for free guiding, lift crews were friendly and helpful. The resort is really well laid out and had everything we needed, including a well stocked supermarket. There’s a free shuttle bus around the resort and another to take you to the other 3 mountains covered on the lift pass. The Ullr Night is well worth booking, with unlimited rides on the Alpine Breathtaker Coaster and Tubing! There are some really good bars and restaurants (our favourite was Venga Venga) as well as a good range of shops. We would recommend Snowmass and will definitely go back!

Aspen Snowmass has it all. Varied ski terrain. A better spread of options for all level of skier/rider. A network of pleasant blues that span the mountain and ample black diamond terrain to challenge the thrill seeker. The village is modernising with new residences going up but a real determination to maintain the much more family friendly feel. In fact, we didn’t feel like we needed to stray to Aspen Highlands, Ajax, (Buttermilk had already closed), the conditions were great. Usual softening from spring skiing, but up high the snow was beautiful throughout the day. The resort was super quiet which suited the kids, so their skiing improved in a big way, because their confidence was boosted with so much space.
