Are Bjornen is a great resort for families, with a relaxed atmosphere and a couple of lovely cafes for enjoying hot chocolate and sticky chocolate cake! We loved barbecuing our lunch every day and toasting marshmallows! Great ski school for the children and good beginners slopes.

Excellent resort, especially when travelling with young children. The Swedes all speak excellent English and are happy to use it. A very welcoming atmosphere. The weather this year was unusually warm but actually piste conditions remained far better than I have experienced in the Alps on bad weeks. The skiing is excellent and the pistes just don't get busy, even on half term week. The village its…

Very pretty village and stunning setting on the lake. Great supermarket so self catering is easy and easy work from our accommodation into town. Lovely hot chocolate stops all over the mountains and we found the chips at lunchtime to be particularly good! Expensive but no more so than French ski resorts. Our accommodation was right next door to the best bakery so breakfast pastries were a daily de…

Swedish people are very friendly and helpful, the Are area is nice with an eclectic mix of restaurants. We had been to Are a few years ago but never as a family, it is a great resort especially for kids. We found the ski school and instructor very good and really saw our kids skills develop over the week. My eldest sons ski lesson finished at 4.30 every afternoon but oddly the last ski bus left Ro…

We loved our hotel, the location was great, but again only if you can ski down on reds other wise you have to take a fonicular which comes every 20 min. The Food in Are its lovely but expensive compare with the Alpes but in my opinion better quality. Alcohol quite expensive due to Taxes. All in all we liked Are and we might go back. Its a very relax way to ski, slopes very wide and good snow. T…

Perfect for our newly confident skiing children and plenty to do for us in the 2 hour slot they had lessons. On the last day all six of us (aged 5 - 44) skied from one end of the resort to the other!
