Åre is a superb place for skiing for every ability - great for long days out, be they on piste, off piste, all-mountain, cross country, you name it - the variety is superb. And when we were there, it was very quiet - at times we had the slopes to ourselves (or it certainly felt it). Very few queues, all very civilised. Was expecting Sweden to be a typically expensive Scandanavian experience but was surprised - all was pretty good and reasonable. And the welcome, the quality and atmosphere was great.

Great for intermediate skiers (us) - lots of long, wide runs. Minimal queues, excellent facilities (we loved the 'canteen' and bbq area at Rodkullen). Two of our party booked private lessons and they thought these very good value. We stayed at the Morviksgarden apartments in Are By. Fabulous, well-equipped apartment. Felt 'luxury' standard, without the usual accompanying price tag. Very warm and comfortable.

Great snow - would be good to have more chair than drag lifts which can be heavy on the knees.. Also felt more expensive this year.

Had a super (half term) week - fabulous skiing, uncrowded pistes, minimal queues. It was very cold, however, so needed to layer up. We stayed in the Morviksgarden apartments, which were great - close to the funicular (runs every 20 mins) and all amenities. Self catering was a doddle as the large supermarket at the station had everything we needed (though doesn't sell wine, only beer) and was not expensive. We would definitely go back.

It was a spectacular location, there was so much space up on the mountain and everyone was very lovely. For a mixed ability group that we had, it couldn't have worked out better.
