This is the resort we have been seeking for 30 years and never thought we would find. It was more extensive than we expected. There were plenty of reds if needed but overall the skiing was relaxed and straightforward. Slopes very quiet indeed even at Easter. We were fortunate to have great snow - no Easter Alpine slush in the afternoon either. Beautiful remote forests and frozen lakes.

The skiing was great for beginners through to expert skiers. Ski school was one of the best I’ve used. The teachers were enthusiastic and welcoming. The short lessons allowed lots of time for skiing as a family. The resort is large enough to keep you busy all week, though the terrain is a little unvaried.

Ideal family location. Combination of nursery area in Bjornen (Greens and Blues) leading across to Åre By for intermediates (Blues and Reds/Blacks) and then the more adventurous Rudkullen area for the trick parks means that everyone can find their preferred level. The resort itself is lovely with great restaurants and shops that mean even non-skiers can enjoy their time out.

Superb pistes and not crowded even in school holidays. The village and facilities like the funicular railway have a special charm. Plenty of excellent restaurant choices, though as you would expect they are expensive.

Are was a very pleasant small town. Good variety of ski slopes. Made to feel very welcome.

Good move up in skiing level and extent after Trysil Norway last year. Great no queues for lifts. Boys enjoyed off piste in trees.

Åre is a superb place for skiing for every ability - great for long days out, be they on piste, off piste, all-mountain, cross country, you name it - the variety is superb. And when we were there, it was very quiet - at times we had the slopes to ourselves (or it certainly felt it). Very few queues, all very civilised. Was expecting Sweden to be a typically expensive Scandanavian experience but…

Great for intermediate skiers (us) - lots of long, wide runs. Minimal queues, excellent facilities (we loved the 'canteen' and bbq area at Rodkullen). Two of our party booked private lessons and they thought these very good value. We stayed at the Morviksgarden apartments in Are By. Fabulous, well-equipped apartment. Felt 'luxury' standard, without the usual accompanying price tag. Very warm and c…

Great snow - would be good to have more chair than drag lifts which can be heavy on the knees.. Also felt more expensive this year.
