Unfortunately we didn’t have particularly good weather with high winds shutting some of the lifts and a couple of days of rain, but other than that it was a really enjoyable holiday. Are is a lovely place, the slopes are varied and good to ski, the people very friendly and the organisation of Ski Safari nearly flawless. Are is a small town as well as a ski resort so there is a good mixture of shops, restaurants, etc. that gives it a really nice feel.

For our group Are in Sweden was a brilliant place to sky - something for the non-skiers, excellent for the complete beginners and enough to keep the experts busy for a week. Are Bjornen is a satellite village in Are which is an excellent place to get started with your skiing. There is accommodation immediately next to the beginner slopes and the lift system give quick access to the rest of the resort for the expert skiers. The Bjornen area has a small grocery shop and a couple of cafes, but if you want more, the ride into Are centre is about 15 minutes in beautiful surroundings. Once in Are there are plenty of shops and a large supermarket. The people who work in the resort are all very polite and responsive to guests' needs, and any issues are sorted out in a guest friendly manner. We love it so much we have been back there 4 times.

This is the resort we have been seeking for 30 years and never thought we would find. It was more extensive than we expected. There were plenty of reds if needed but overall the skiing was relaxed and straightforward. Slopes very quiet indeed even at Easter. We were fortunate to have great snow - no Easter Alpine slush in the afternoon either. Beautiful remote forests and frozen lakes.
