This was our first time skiing in Scandinavia and we absolutely loved it. We have been to the Alps several times but are now complete converts to Scandi skiing! Our kids really loved the ski school - the instructors all had impeccable English and a really nurturing approach. Their warmth and enthusiasm had our shy & nervous kids skipping into lessons very happily. The lessons were short however - possibly a function of it being Christmas week - so there wasn't much time for adult skiing without kids by the time you had dropped them off and got to the lift. For us (intermediates) the skiing terrain was brilliant - wide, open slopes with perfect snow and hardly anyone else about. For advanced skiers it perhaps might be a little limited unless you have more time (not dashing back to ski school pick up) to get up to the top.

Trysil is a fantastic family friendly resort with a lovely atmosphere and some very good cafes and restaurants. Only really had to queue at the main lift from the centre. The ski area is not as extensive as some Alpine resorts however there is a good variety of runs and some challenging blacks make it an excellent choice for a mixed ability group. Very good ski school for the children. Our older children, who had skied before, had an excellent time in their ski groups and really explored the area as their lesson was 3.25 hours each morning. Our younger son had a lesson for 90 minutes which coincided with our lessons. We then took him to the Trysil creche for one hour before lunching as a family. This worked well.

Trysil is a family-friendly resort, excellent for all the family. We were extremely lucky with the snow so off-piste through the trees was great fun. My children (5 & 8) had great fun, the ski schools were excellent, all spoke English, were well organised and I felt reassured and happy leaving my children. There are a few good restaurants, so plenty of option to grab a bit to eat at lunch and in the evening too.

We're all safely back in Australia now and I just wanted to thank you for an absolutely amazing holiday. I think it's up there as one of our all time favourites. The resort was fantastic; they couldn't do enough for us and all the flight and train journeys were really good . We had an amazing week of skiing and snowboarding and everything went according to plan. Steve and the children loved their experience in Tromso and even managed a glimpse of the Northern Lights. So, I am singing your praises to all and sundry and I'll definitely look you up again when we book our next European ski holiday.
