This was our fifth year to Trysil and it was quite possibly the best. A snow base of 1.7m to start the holiday with another 30-50cm falling in the first two days followed by four days of perfectly blue skies. We managed the full run of the resort - from off-piste powder to gentle, perfectly pisted runs through the trees. Absolutely magical. Unusually for April, the winds were light, so all lifts remained open all week. It was, perhaps, a little warm towards the end of the week but the snow stayed reasonably fresh and the sunshine gave us opportunity to picnic. So quiet that at times during the mid-afternoon it felt like we had hired our very own private resort - deserted pistes and no queues at the lifts.

Great for families, loved ski in /ski out. Ski school was excellent - great blend of friendly and expert.

Excellent for beginners. We were lucky with the weather. The instructors were effective. If you want to start your family off on the skiing adventure it's first-rate. The buildings are depressingly black wood and the internal decor of the hotel not to my taste - eg nothing like Austria for cosiness. Incredibly expensive for food and drink outside the hotel and not really many places to indulge. Trysil is only a village and the hotel is pretty (necessarily) self-contained.

Excellent resort. There's something for everybody here. You can learn to turn on a massive range of green runs all the way to throwing yourself down extreme black runs. The staff on the lifts are all really friendly/helpful and you never have to queue. Excellent suggestion by Andy that really suited our family's needs.
