With a high proportion of confidence-boosting greens and blues, Trysil (pronounced tree-sill) is widely regarded as Norway’s best family resort. Children under seven ski for free and the kids’ ski areas feature magic carpets, forest trails and a talking tree. In several sections, different graded pistes run almost in parallel, so all levels can start and finish together.

Steeped in heritage, Trysil ski resort hosted some of the very first downhill ski racing in 1862. It's also very scenic, with tree-lined lower slopes and panoramic peak views of elk-filled forests.

From restaurants and shops to ski school and rentals, you'll find everything you need in the main hubs of Turistsenter and Høyfjellsenter (also known as Fageråsen). The après-ski bars are fairly laid back, and the water park at Turistsenter’s Radisson Blu has an indoor surf wave.

Confident in the area’s snowfall, Trysil gives a guaranteed snow promise throughout the season. It's qualities like this that make Trysil ski holidays popular with Norwegians and Swedes. It’s never too busy but, to make the most of the uncrowded weekday slopes, we can schedule your holiday for Sunday to Friday.

"Trysil is blessed with fantastic snow conditions and wide slopes. The locals are polite, friendly and speak superb English - for me, that’s a perfect combination for a ski holiday."

Trysil Accommodation

Set in a forested area, over 80% of the accommodation in Trysil is ski-in ski-out - another plus for beginners and families. Spread throughout Turistsenter and Høyfjellsenter, hotel rooms and apartments tend to be spacious and high quality, and many have pools and saunas. We’ve stayed at or visited all of our Trysil accommodation options, so call us for advice and we’ll recommend the best ones for you.

Trysil is a well laid out resort with most accommodation having easy access to restaurants, a supermarket, coffee shops and the Raddison Blue hotel facilities which everyone can use. We stayed in the Midgard apartments which are brand new builds, very comfortable, warm and have all the facilities you would need for self catering. The ski area has plenty of runs from greens to blacks which are not …

As a cautious intermediate I found a really great variety of pistes in (compared with the big Alpine centres) a relatively small resort. Very well maintained slopes, efficient lifts (although understandably struggling with extreme cold in Jan / Feb).

Lots of varied skiing- great for a whole family trip when the kids are now getting good. Very easy ski from door. Lovely and quiet(we went out of Norway school hols). Ski school was really good with lovely instructor and the 3 hour lesson gave the adults chance to really enjoy some skiiing away from the children as well, Not much going on in the "village" in the evening, but that was fine for u…
