Fantastic ski area, purpose built. Great snow and good variety of wide open slopes. And… not too many people!

Small but perfect, Myrkdalen was a little gem! During the week there were no queues and the pistes were quiet, there is also plenty of off piste to go at too. We had a great time with Wild Voss ski touring in a nearby valley. The facilities and staff were first rate. We will be back.

Mykdalen is lovely. At the time we visited the pistes were empty and the snow was perfect powder. There are only a limted number of pistes but its a small ski resort and so to be expected. We really enjoyed the wide open blue runs and very achievable red runs.

The only time I’ve ever skied for a week and never had to wait at all to get on a chair. Snow was well kept, light from 09:30-15:30 great, enough of a mix of groomed runs for a good week and the potential for almost limitless off piste in the right conditions. Transfers were efficient and comfortable, hotel really nice. Clean room, good shower, nice balcony, comfortable bed. Foyer was a good area for getting tea and coffee, and ski storage very safe. As ski in/ski out as you can get with a short few steps to the snow and the main lift about 30m beyond that. Hotel owns the resort, lists, cafe at the base and by the t bars and the sports bar, ski school and hire shop in the small square. Half board option was very good value with the fixed three course menu in the main restaurant being beautifully cooked and presented and incredibly tasty every night. The pizza/pasta restaurant was good too but the highlight was the fondue which was just superb. Breakfast a good range and quality of hot and cold options. Ski hire included in the holiday price was for basic skis but we were charged £25 a pair to upgrade to demo skis for the week. One private 100 min lesson per person was also included and these were phenomenal. The instructor, Rhune, simply the best and managed to improve my skiing beyond measure in a really short time with focussed instruction. We hired him for another private lesson to take my son off piste and that cost £107 for the almost two hours and was exceptional value. The overlook bar at the bottom of the t bars was lovely, good food and a great view. Eating out is quite pricey but offset by lower accommodation and gear prices. There’s also nothing but counter sports and the hotel here so retail options are limited.
