Varied standard of groomed runs and unlimited off piste areas ( not sampled!) Good lift facilities with ski in- ski out from the hotel. Relatively quiet during the week, busier at weekends, but no queues for lifts Good ski hire facilities adjacent with very helpful staff Disappointed with ski school. Lack of numbers resulted in a mixed standard of pupils under one instructor. Advanced skier was disadvantaged.

Nice Scandinavian style hotel right on the slopes, true ski-in ski-out. The skiing and hotel were both excellent but there’s nothing else to do in Myrkdalen if the weather is bad so make sure you hire a car as public transport is next to non existent. Myrkdalen is a purpose built ski resort and excellent for novices and intermediates as from Monday to Friday there’s hardly anyone on the slopes. All of the slopes are clearly marked and well groomed and there are two ski parks with jumps, rails, pipes etc for the more adventurous. One of the parks is right outside the back of the hotel and provides great viewing from the back rooms in the evenings when there is floodlit skiing and the younger set are doing their thing.
