Just wanted to thank you for all your hard work you put into the preparations for our holiday to Geilo – we really, really appreciate it. We had a fantastic time and loved the resort and the hotel – it really suited us as a family and what we all wanted to do. And it felt really special being there just after Christmas and over New Year. I wanted to let you know that the ski school arrangements that you put so much effort into worked beautifully. It really was worth her doing a 3 hour lesson each day as they got to do so much and made so much progress – they even came down the red run on the last day.

Geilo is a perfect family ski destination. The Vestlia accommodation / ski school/ equipment hire/ cafe and access to slopes are all within a few minutes walk. This made for stress free practicalities in our experience. The abundance of snow this new year outweighed the extra-chilly conditions (-19 on day 1 for us! It did warm up on subsequent days!) and close accommodation/ cafe enabled atmospheric "warm up" opportunities! Our children loved ski school and the compact nature of this side of the resort meant that mum and dad could fit an hour of skiing in during children's lesson and ski past them to watch their fun in the process! We'd love to go back sometime!

We stayed at the Vestlia resort over Christmas 2015. A beautiful hotel which had warmth and character. We felt the food was excellent, with plenty of choice for breakfast. They had a good vegetarian option for my daughter, and the chef was brilliant with my nut allergy, he made the deserts from scratch for me and on Christmas Eve made two traditional Norwegian deserts just for me! The staff were extremely helpful. We had a suite a with an adjoining room. It was very large and clean.....cannot fault anything. The ski hire shop staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Ski in and ski out at the hotel was very good with good ski storage. Geilo dog sledding can also be recommended. I would definitely return to this hotel, I could not find fault with it.

An excellent destination for a family learning to ski with a safe and easy ski area. We stayed in the Forest cabins which are basic but comfortable with everything you need and close to the slopes. We travelled at Easter and the area seems pretty snow sure and very quiet for the time of year with spring skiing and all lifts and runs open. The ski school has a short 80 min group lesson but this is enough for younger children and the fairly easy slopes mean that the family can ski together for the rest of the time. The slopes on the Geilolia side are limited but plenty for beginners or families with children. There is limited restaurants available on this side of the valley and you will probably want to self cater most of the time with the supermarkets in the main town, it is 1/2 a mile to the local shop and a mile back to the larger supermarkets. Travel is easy especially from Scotland with direct flights to Norway and the train transfer is easy with children and particularly beautiful either from Oslo or Bergen.

Geilo is perfect for beginners and intermediates. The slopes are quiet ( at times we had them to ourselves) and there is plenty to do for a week. The ski lessons our 11 year old son had were excellent- the ski school classes had 7 kids in and the instructor spoke perfect English. The resort has a very family friendly feel - it was nearly all families. At Easter, many of the cafes were closed but those that were open were nice. They were happy for you to take your own food and drink and use the tables

We really enjoyed our ski trip organised by Ski Safari. The journey to a new country (Norway) was exciting and felt a little like independent travelling, but with the crutch of clear instructions at each stage of the trip. The Norwegians we met were all lovely and helpful. The advice of resort (Geilo) was spot on for our family of beginners and novices - we all progressed and could ski from top to bottom of the mountain by the middle of the week. The Vestlia resort was relaxing, with great food for adults and kids. Make your lunches at breakfast - paper and plastic bags are provided by the hotel. The home baked bread is delicious and there is a wide selection of fillings to choose from - bacon, eggs, cheeses, ham, jam and salami. Fresh fruit chunks are also worth taking. After the slopes, it's worth going to the pool (free of charge), but watch out, the water temperature suits active swimmers and kids (i.e. cool) but there is a hot spa pool and a fun slide. We had private ski lessons so my wife could ski with one child and I with the other and that worked well. Instructors were great (thank you Ingrid, Sara and Rachel) and were either English or spoke perfect English. As a 50 year old born again skier, I am not sure of the wisdom of going over ramps and boxes in the ski park, but it was brilliant fun. No lift queues and empty slopes. All in all brilliant.
