The Geilo resort was amazing, really brilliant for kids and we really did have a great time. We got Freddie on ski's each day for an hour with an instructor which was great, and as well as that he loved sledging. The pool and indoor play area were great for the afternoon and gave him other activities apart from skiing. The train journey was amazing, and the transfer was so easy esp with all the tickets already arranged. Oslo also was great, hotel perfect location and we had a really good time there.

We are back from Geilo and had a fantastic time. We just wanted to say how much we enjoyed the whole experience. The trains to and from airport and to and from Geilo were great and a lovely way to travel. Fantastic scenery. With temps in the -5 to -17 range and nice weather, the snow and skiing were great. There was plenty of fresh snow to top up runs and plenty of snowmaking going on. For us, with very out of shape ski legs and beginner kids, Geilolia was a good choice for the week. It was very uncrowded and our kids were the only ones in ski school. They had an Instructor called Ingrid, who was completely brilliant. She took 3 kids aged 5, 6 & 10 and managed to progress all of them at their own rates without holding the others back. She also took them for ski play, which basically meant they got to keep on skiing with her while we had our lesson. They loved her and she gave them the very best introduction to skiing. By the end of the week they were up the mountain, doing boxes and small jumps in the park, a bit of off-piste through the trees and broadly parallel skiing with good control and great confidence. All the people we met were friendly and helpful and engaging. The lift operators smiled and were happy to help the kids. We loved the skiing and loved Norway, and were really impressed by how well the whole trip worked.

Geilo was absolutely amazing. The Geilolia side was perfect for all our needs and although we did venture over to the other side one afternoon we stayed on the Geilolia side for the rest of the week. The ski hire was ready for us to collect first thing on the Monday morning and the lessons provided were great. Ski play for the 9-year-old was a great hit and enabled him to continue skiing and playing with a qualified instructor while I had my lesson. The resort and village as a whole were perfect for all our needs and we mixed eating in the cabin with sampling different places to eat nearby.

We have recently returned from Geilo and it really was the perfect resort for us. We stayed in the Vestlia which is right by the lifts, ski hire and ski school - which makes everything so much easier! Although it is quite a small ski area it was ideal for the children who were skiing / snowboarding for the first time and even though we were there over new year the slopes were really uncrowded and there were hardly any queues for the lifts. Maybe next time we visit we will use the ski bus to get to the ski area on the other side of the town but there was no need this time. And ski school was great - definitely worth doing the three-hour lessons. Hopefully we will be back soon!
