The ski resort itself was about perfect for a first ever family ski trip, with parents snowboarding for the first time in 15 years. The slopes are wide and very easy to navigate, and although they are generally green and blue with a few reds (with lots of terrain parks), the lack of crowds on the lifts and on the slopes makes life a breeze and time on the mountain a dream. We were there in half terms, and despite the kids ski instructor saying 'it was busy', he really had no idea what a busy ski resort looks like! We tried XC skiing with Nina (highly recommend you ask for her as she also runs fat bike trips) . . . it was a real blast and something everyone has to try when in the home of XC skiing. Private ski school for the kids was first rate.

I kept looking for a catch and there just isn't one! Picking up rental gear is efficient and the skis and boots are of excellent quality. Lodges are well-maintained and easy to navigate. Trails were just as fun as last year. Of course it's a bit of a way to travel, but the travel effort melts away the second you arrive, and the relatively quiet and uncrowded pistes and lifts are a clear and advantageous trade-off. Also, this may be difficult for Ski Safari to manage, but we'd like to extend a sincere thank-you to a wonderful ski instructor named Elias, who took some time out of his night-skiing to help my son Isak, who found himself out of his depth on a rather steep piste. I was supporting Isak's younger brother and couldn't be off much help; a randomly passing Elias came to our rescue. He's a hero. For family skiing with young children -- who started the holiday as beginners and have certainly now found their ski-legs -- I really feel we couldn't have done better.
