I kept looking for a catch and there just isn't one! Picking up rental gear is efficient and the skis and boots are of excellent quality. Lodges are well-maintained and easy to navigate. Trails were just as fun as last year. Of course it's a bit of a way to travel, but the travel effort melts away the second you arrive, and the relatively quiet and uncrowded pistes and lifts are a clear and advantageous trade-off. Also, this may be difficult for Ski Safari to manage, but we'd like to extend a sincere thank-you to a wonderful ski instructor named Elias, who took some time out of his night-skiing to help my son Isak, who found himself out of his depth on a rather steep piste. I was supporting Isak's younger brother and couldn't be off much help; a randomly passing Elias came to our rescue. He's a hero. For family skiing with young children -- who started the holiday as beginners and have certainly now found their ski-legs -- I really feel we couldn't have done better. Thanks for another wonderful holiday.

Geilo town is not particularly picturesque, quite functional but looked much better at dusk with the Christmas lights on! Good selection of shops, although we only used the Spar. Good bus service, think it is included in lift pass although no-one checked. There are a range of non-ski activities which can be organised from Geilo. We did Snow-shoeing (quite a gentle introduction which included a fire and marshmallows - always popular with kids!) and definitely the winner, which was the Husky Sledding... a fantastic experience, which we'll always remember.
