Fantastic mountain, plenty of slopes to suit all abilities. We were treated to 80cm of fresh powder through the 10 day stay - the Canadian bottomless powder dream come true. Ski school have different instructors every day however our five year old progressed to skiing and turning parallel, pole planting and skiing all the blues and some easy blacks during the 9 days (he skied 6 days last year and was still snow plowing most of the time. This year he had 7 half day lessons) so whilst I would have liked more consistency with instructors there was still obvious progress. Apres ski - minimal available and lacking atmosphere, but that didn't matter as we had kids and the most fantastic self catering slopeside accommodation. Lifts a bit dated but despite the fact there are only 5 they open up a vast skiable area. These comments sound slightly negative but the overall feel of the place, friendliness, fabulous terrain and lack of crowds, I rate this as a top resort.

We stopped here on a ski safari, and I'm afraid to say that this was the disappointment of our trip. The area had a lot of potential but the pistes were not well maintained so this constrained our skiing. Only a small number of pistes were groomed each day (the same green ones and a handful of blue runs) so if you wanted to ski something steeper, these were all covered in bumps/moguls. This was compounded by warm weather so with freeze/thaw we found some of the ungroomed runs unskiable.

Panorama is a terrific ski resort for families. It's greatest plus is being one of the few ski in/ ski out resorts in Canada. It has a variety of slopes to suit differing abilities with the added bonus of Mountain Friends- a group of locals who guide guests round the ski slopes with three different ability levels. This made the holiday for my husband and I as we are of very different standard and temperament when it comes to skiing. A family resort with good restaurants but maybe not a great choice of nightlife if that is your prime need.

Spent a good week in Panorama. It is a long way but travel was ok and jet lag not too bad so I would not let it put you off. Panorama is a small resort but enough skiing for a week for all levels. Slopes quiet and empty even at half term and no lift queues. Plenty of snow but very cold. We may have been unlucky but most days it was -20 to -30 C in the mornings. Even with all the kit and handwarmers 1 hour was the most we could last on the slopes at anyone time. We were told this was unusual and -5 was more typical. Accomodation good and restaurants simple ie burgers but good for lunch and dinner. General store is basic and the local town is 20min by shuttle bus, which runs infrequently. There is nothing to do in town and restaurants not as good as the resort, so only go there for the supermarket and spend as little time as possible in town. Best thing is to ask the transfer bus to stop in Banff on the way to the resort and do your food shopping for the week. This worked very well. No night life to speak of, good for families. We had a good time despite the cold and I would recommend you consider it if you note the above. Organisation for Ski Safari was flawless. Happy skiing.
