New England's second biggest ski area, Sunday River is ideal for families, with some of the best value accommodation in the US.

One of our top recommendations for families, ski holidays in Sunday River are made even more appealing by the resort’s excellent deals - these often include 2 for 1 lift passes, free group lessons and kids ski for free.

Spread across eight interconnected peaks, the diverse slopes and scenery create a real sense of journey. Snow cover is very dependable, with reliable annual snowfall topped-up with extensive snowmaking.

Early intermediates have lots of cruising terrain to clock-up, and the ski school’s learn to ski program is excellent. The experts in our office are big fans of the advanced steeps and bumps on White Cap, while intermediates can push themselves on the inbound glades.

There’s plenty to do in the evenings, from night-skiing and tubing to live entertainment on weekends. We often stick to Sunday River’s great local restaurants, or there are more options in nearby Bethel town if you fancy exploring.

Every holiday is tailor-made, just for you.

Superb resort - much bigger than it had appeared from the paste map - and wonderfully uncrowded. We once had to queue nearly 5 minutes for a lift! (The rest of the time we skied straight on to the next chair). It helped that we had 3 feet of fresh snow, but they kept some runs unpisted and with so few skiers (compared to European resorts) the powder lasted 3 days (by which time we had another 12 inches!). Great variety of runs through the trees and terrain parks with fun jumps. Great recommendation of a resort for the family, with an abundance of blue runs for skiing together and enough black / double diamond runs for the more adventurous - and loads of powder (see below). Not much by way of apres-ski, but we didn't need this anyway.

Really good snow and with it being entirely open there was a good degree of challenge. Sadly they have introduced a charge for the Group lessons that used to be free but there is still a discount for being a resident. We love it here.

Great selection of easy/intermediate skiing, not much of a challenge for better intermediates. A lot of the single and double Black Diamond runs are actually mogul runs. Excellent snowmaking facilities but not always a huge amount of natural snow. Apart from Chondola lift system mostly old and fairly slow chairs but, joy of joys, no queues anywhere except on a Saturday
