We spent 2 weeks at the Park City resorts starting 26 January. These comprise of Park City resort, Deer Valley & Canyons. They are very close together so you should sample all 3. We found splitting the time 50% at Canyons, 30% at DV and 20% here about right. If we were avid bowl skiers, the split of how we might divide our time between the 3 resorts might alter in Park City's favour, as its bowls comprise a good proportion of its total acreage. Having said that, the trail skiing is still of sufficient extent to keep one amused for 2 or 3 days. There are a good mix of runs spread over 5 'zones' which are helpfully coloured differently on the trail map. The splitting of blue runs into 'single' blues and 'double' blues (more akin to European reds) was useful too. Many of the runs peel off from access runs, which can be a bit busy until folk take off on their chosen trail, but once off these access runs you wonder where everyone else has gone. The lift system is generally efficient, but do take care to differentiate between lifts that have 'hi-speed' in their name and those that don't. All the ones we rode on that don't say 'hi-speed' lack not only speed but also safety bars, so those of nervous disposition beware. We are not talking of short journeys here either - the Town Lift, which does what it says on the can (takes you up from right in the town centre) spends some 20 minutes to do so. We sampled 2 of the 3 on-mountain eateries and 2 at base level. Snow Hut Restaurant (self-service) was very handy if some of your party wanted a break whilst others continued, as most of the runs off the Silverlode & King Con hi-speed quads could be easily accessed from it. They serve up a mean chilli too. Summit House Restaurant (also self-service) was let down by its heated terrace seemingly having been constructed over its cesspit! At base level, Butcher's Chop House & Bar alongside the Town Lift was very comfortable, and proved excellent quality and good value. But the best was the lovely little rustic Silver Star Cafe (table service) at the bottom of the Silver Star lift, which wouldn't have felt out of place had this been Austria. Despite being really busy, they found us places very quickly, service was similarly fast and the food great and reasonably priced. The remnants of PC's mining era are still visible at at least two locations alongside the trails, these being buildings and winding gear that were just abandoned when extraction ceased. Their continued presence alongside the modern ski-lift plant is somewhat surreal but nonetheless interesting.

VERY friendly, upmarket town, very good choice of restaurants & bars. Fabulous art galleries. Easy access to any of the local ski resorts. We hired a mid size SUV last minute and were glad we did as it gave us the freedom to explore everywhere in our own time. 'Sundance' (Robert Redford owned resort) is only 45 minutes from Park City and was WELL worth the drive to dine at the Tree Room which was exceptional.
