We went in mid March-- the best snow we have ever seen in the US or Europe, locals said it was something special this year. We were encouraged to go to PC by an American aquaintance who is as hooked as we are now. For those of you thinking about trying "PC"-- it's the greatest combination of:- Spacious Rockies skiing - ever! -(PC), massive areas with something for all skills -(Canyons), quality, landscape and service unimaginable in Europe -(Deer Valley). You would be very busy if you skied everything available and interesting at these three resorts in 7 or eight days. However good old American sevice comes in strong-- you can find a number of companies doing day trips in Minibuses to Alta, Snowbird etc etc- for little more than the cost of a day ticket. We stayed at the Marriot- 3(US) Stars(God knows what in Europe!). Quote--"Carry your skis to the complimentary shuttle (front door -every 15 minutes) to the resort centre sir?". If you miss that, the "Park City shuttle" to Park City, Canyons and Deer Valley stops by the ski room, -unbelievably helpful drivers and locals. With £1=$1.98 or so -a coffee comes out at around £1; The American equivalent of a Pint of the local Utah 3% beer costs about £1.75 in any of the atmospheric bars on Main street. Park City has a wide range of eating places from simple diners, coffee shops, burger places, through to international stuff and top quality US-style grill rooms. PC is the first place we have skied in the US, where we were not broke or fed-up with the food on and off-piste after 10 days. Everyone in the party came home with something of quality bought, unplanned, on Main Street- which was too big a bargain to miss. It's along flight from the North of of England on the way out; and occasionally tempting to consider Las Vegas as a stopover. But would you really give up several days skiing in that snow?. Some years ago we bought the book "1000 Places to see before you die"--- it's all in there; especially the Stein Erikson Lodge for your farewell lunch.

Just a quick note to say many thanks for arranging our ski holiday to Park City and the onward trip to Las Vegas. We really enjoyed the holiday. The skiing in Park City area is fantastic - in fact we seemed to prefer The Canyons on our doorstep to the other resorts because it has a good variety of terrain and we were lucky with lots of powder on our 2 days there. We also went to Solitude and Alta, both of which are very pretty and we found good skiing. We are definately convinced about Utah skiing for the quality of its snow and the friendly atmosphere, albeit the food can be a challenge! Timberwolfe Lodge was very nice too. We enjoyed the road trip at the end and had a fun couple of days in Las Vegas.

Great wide and empty motor-way pistes which were well-groomed. Resort infrastructure was a bit weak: lift queues were long at peak times; lift passes system pretty antiquated; too few buses (make sure you stay near to the slopes). No night-life in the European sense (although we were there at the end of the season) and probably better for families than younger groups. Very cheap given the low state tax.

Worth the long journey!The fact the three resorts are all next to each other gave us a variety of the usual high standard of American resorts to ski.Dear valley was definately the place to eat on the mountain although Park city was the place to stay as it had more restaurants/bars/shops.We found it quite expensive to eat out as a family of 5 but as we had a car drove to Kimball Junction where there was a good supermarket.The car was also useful to get to the resorts although there is a bus service.

Extensive mixed abilty skiing and some really great diamond runs. Impressive scenery. Excellent restuarants, particularly Thai, Chinese and Steaks. Loads to do in Park City itself and very convenient for the Canyons and Deer Valley. The latter is a skiiers paradise. Excellent transportation links between 4 ski resorts lacks atmosphere of the centre of Vail or a Swiss Chalet resort such as Murren. I will definitely go back. Too good not to. The Canyons when it is finished will be very impressive
