Skiing - Lots of long runs at different levels and varied terrain. Snow was good, thoroughly enjoyed the resort in spite of rather grey skies all week. Apres - limited choices but we found somewhere different every night we went out. Biggest problem was the lack of eating places on the mountain. After the first day when we just got into one of the few mountain restaurants and overhead reception saying to other parties book in advance, we just got into the hotel bar and after that went back to the apartment for lunch.

Excellently groomed pistes and lots of potential off-piste. It was really empty when we went (end of Jan). Generally a resort for older skiers - I am 55 and felt relatively young :) but this was a major advantage as we sometimes never saw anybody on a whole run. Would like to go back with my wife but only for 3 or 4 days. Would possibly prefer to stay at the middle village where there would be more variety of restaurants, bars and shops.

Stayed at the resort and hotel before and returned as we had 'unfinished business' with the mountain. It's all about the snow, the skiing and the terrain for us. There is no other reason to go to Big Sky for a long holiday as the restaurants are seriously limited in volume and the quality and VfM of some this year was poor. I felt the the food this year was not as good as 5 years ago and contrasted massively from excellent (Bucks T4, Andiamo, Carabiner and to really poor (Hummers and sorry to say the main restaurant at the Summit for evening meals). But as I say its all about snow and the expansion of the terrain since five years ago really adds to the resort and we had a fab time although it came at a cost as this holiday was expensive. So unless the US dollar something drastic - back to Canada next year.
