Are Björnen is ideal for families with young children, quiet, easy to access everything, terrain and lifts ideal for learners yet plenty to access for more experienced skiers in Åre.

The transfer from Trondheim to Are was very smooth and efficient taking around 1Hr 45 minutes. As advanced skiers, the location really suited us. There was a great variety of ski runs and safe off-piste. I would say though that the centre of Are-By is not well suited to beginners, all the runs in the immediate vacinity are red and black. Beautiful resort, skiing was really good - plenty for all levels. Pistes all really well kept. Despite amazing weather the runs were quiet which allowed the children to improve their skiing without any worry. No queuing for lifts! Everyone really friendly, lovely mountain cafes and restaurants.

Are is beautiful, laid back and very friendly. All the staff at Are are brilliant and genuinely interested and engaged with the whole family. It was very quiet the week we were there and all the locals chatted to us on the lifts. I love Sweden.

Best skiing holiday I have had, and I've been everywhere in Europe.. Very well located for shops lifts restaurants. Everything was excellent. They even had a real ale pub, that blew me away. I am a real ale man lol. I WILL be returning.

Resort was a nice change from the alps. Pros - food / views / empty slopes / friendly locals / excellent English speaking throughout the resort. Cons - lift system was slow (but no queues).
