Are Bjornen is perfect for families with young children. It is easy to navigate and everything is close together. The bears in the woods are ideal to encourage children to ski longer runs and further from base and never failed to delight our children. The shop is well appointed and it is easy to catch a bus into the busier Are town.

Åre was the perfect family resort. Lovely wide pistes for the children to hone their skills, and wonderfully quiet (it was before Swedish holidays). As it had been so cold, the snow was still in great condition in early April, with blue skies and sunshine most days we were there. Fantastic ski instructors, for the first time ever, all the children were happy to go off to ski school every day. Great food, and virtually no queues for the lifts!

A great resort with all levels of skiing including cross country. When it was windy quite a bit was closed and a few too many drag lifts (for those not used to them) but nonetheless plenty to do.

Lovely hotel although the description is misleading as to get to a blue run which is manageable is near impossible. The food was excellent if you were a carnivore but absolutely disgraceful if you were a vegetarian. we made are feeling known to the staff and management but it didn't improve. Finally the lift adjacent to the hotel was closed for two and a half days which meant a steep red run or a trip on the steep railway to the village then on a ski bus to a differant area travel time one and a half hours each way! As a competent skier the red runs were fabulous and enjoyable wide, steep and well groomed. The last two days of the holiday we suffered from warm weather and sugar snow and the roads turned to water - not so enjoyable.
