Ski/ boarding history
I have been skiing in the Czech Republic on two occasions and once in the French Alps. More recently I enjoyed a magical trip in Whistler (what a massive ski area!) and a delightful few days in Trysil. Find out why I loved Trysil so much in my trip report on Norway’s largest ski resort.
Best mountain moment
The first time I skied a black run in Whistler. Up until then I had been afraid to try it, but I got down fairly smoothly, and, more importantly in one piece… Raven I think was the name of the run. If you want to learn more about skiing in Whistler, by all means, read my trip report.
Favourite Ski Safari
Well, as it happens I’m going on a ski safari around Colorado this December. My itinerary? Non-stop skiing over vast North American terrain in Vail, Beaver Creek and Breckenridge… look out for updates from me on Facebook and Instagram!
Last resort visited
Trysil! My favourite resort. As a reasonably competent intermediate skier with a considerable overestimation of my ability to tackle more difficult runs, I need a resort that’s kind to skiers like me. Fortunately, Trysil does the job. I’ve written a trip report on Trysil too!
Next trip
As mentioned above, I’ll be on a whirlwind trip around Colorado this coming winter. Updates coming to a social media platform you’re probably on!
Interesting fact
I paint landscapes in my spare time, mainly of the South Downs here in the South of England. It’s true we don’t get much in the way of snow but once every few years you do see one or two skiers on the Downs.
Top ski trip recommendation
If you’re returning to skiing after many years away from the slopes, you’ll be surprised at how quickly you pick it up again. When I went to Whistler in December 2022, which you can read about in my trip report, I hadn’t been skiing for fourteen years. To my amazement, it took my body about thirty seconds to remember all the movements and I was comfortable skiing blue runs on my own that same day.
