Spectacularly scenic, Engelberg is perhaps best-known for the Laub off-piste route. The easy transfer makes it a great option for short breaks.

Translating as Angel Mountain, Engelberg has a stunning setting, surrounded by dramatic peaks. High altitude and snow-sure, this resort has one of the biggest vertical drops in the Alps.

The skiing is split between two mountains and, not to be missed, a rotating 360-degree gondola takes you to the top of the ski area. With superb off-piste, the Laub route is one of the ski world’s classic descents and, with so many routes to explore, we recommend hiring a guide.

On-mountain dining is noticeably good value and, although there’s plenty of choice, we always head to the Fluehmatt for the delicious macaroni cheese.

In the traditional village centre, the monastery is top of our list for local attractions, while Yucatan Bar is a good choice for après drinks.

When it’s time to head home, the transfer to Zurich takes only two-hours, making Engelberg ski holidays a good choice for shorter breaks.

Every holiday is tailor-made, just for you.

Engelberg never fails to tick the boxes. Great snow conditions, the investment in the new lifts has cut the queues. Lovely mountain restaurants for lunch. The Titlis Resort is so conveniently placed near the base station. The reception staff are very friendly. We love booking our Bircher Muesli for breakfast every morning, delivered to the door! The apartment was clean, warm and all mod' cons. Had a great fondue night with friends at the AlpenClub - lovely atmospheric wooden chalet interior. Everyone speaks English and are very friendly! We will be returning!

We love Engelberg, for most levels the slopes are very good, the off piste wasn't great this time, which made it limiting for the better skiers. The town is lovely, lots to do and see for those who don't want to ski all day. We used Prime Ski School and Board Local School - both had excellent, friendly instructors.

Top 20 Snowiest Resorts - December 2017

22nd December 2017 - Craig Charley

Every year, just before Christmas, we like to take a look at which resorts have had the most snow at the start of the secason. Not only does it get us excited for planned trips in the New Year, it also gives a good indication of where's likely to have the best skiing in the coming months. Can you...

Welcome to Winter 2017/18

24th November 2017 - Craig Charley

By the end of the weekend, most of our resorts will be open for 2017/18 and for many, it's already a big winter. We've tracked down the biggest early season snowfall in November and it's looking good. Canada Kicking Horse currently sits top of the Canadian snow chart with a huge 346 cm. The resort...
