Quality Hotel Skifer is the best choice in Oppdal if you'd like a proper hotel experience right in the heart of town, still just a short hop from the slopes.
Modern and comfortable, Quality Hotel Skifer (pronounced She-Fur) has an excellent restaurant and a genuine sense of care in the service. It suits couples, groups and families who want to be looked after rather than self-catering.
The main ski base, Vangslia, is just five minutes away on the complimentary ski bus, which runs daily throughout winter, so it's easy to reach the slopes each morning and return to the heart of town each evening.
The contemporary rooms are spacious and well-equipped, with many enjoying views over the surrounding Trollheimen mountains and Dovrefjell National Park.
The restaurant is fantastic, serving a varied buffet breakfast and a three-course meal in the evening, consisting of Norwegian cuisine made with fresh, local ingredients - and this is included if you stay half board.
This, coupled with the relaxation area consisting of a sauna and steam room, makes Quality Hotel Skifer the best spot in town. There's also a relaxed lobby bar for a pre-dinner drink or a nightcap.
'Skifer' translates to slate' in English, a fitting name, as the hotel's facade (and much of its interior) is built from the local stone.
