Very family-friendly resort, as promised. Good range of pistes from greens through to blacks, and even one expert black piste (although we didn't take the children down that one). There are still a few t-bar lifts (not a family-favourite) but through clever map reading and planning, we managed to avoid them and stick to the chairlifts. All pistes were well-managed and we particularly liked the nose-blowing stations at every lift! The resort itself is purpose-built and didn't appear to have the social life of some alpine resorts but that didn't bother us as a family as we spent our evenings in the hotel, the Radisson Blu, which was fabulous. We all loved the amazing pool for a post-ski swim.

Love the resort. Great for a family. Beautiful empty slopes, no lift queues, well organised and friendly people. Not much going on during the evenings so not great for someone looking for a lively apres ski environment.

Trysil is the perfect place for a family, especially if you are new to skiing or have been once or twice before. Many visitors are from Sweden or Denmark, and there is a 'hidden gem' feeling to the resort. Compared to the popular Alpine resorts, Trysil feels uncrowded and a 'big' queue at the chairlift is a matter of minutes. Take advantage of the airport duty free, as alcohol is VERY expensive; typically £10 for a bottled beer or glass of wine and £60 for a bottle of wine.
