Radisson Blu Resort Trysil Customer Reviews

This is a generally good hotel, we would certainly hope to return; it is well-run with friendly and helpful staff, and a very convenient location. It would benefit from some small improvements: 1. The room had an excellent bed and bed-linen; it was very clean; there was lots of hot water; the curtains gave a good black-out, and it was quiet: so all the essentials. It did however lack storage space: a minimalist approach to design needs drawers and enough cupboard space to conceal clutter, toiletries etc. Also, extra towels... 2. The breakfast buffet was excellent, but the layout was poor [eg the fruit section had masses of space, but the bread and cold food section was very cramped; and the better coffee machine was positioned in the main aisle] which was annoying when it was busy. 3. The bar area is part of reception: it has no outward views at all. The Sagbruket was closed on the three occasions we looked. 4. The evening buffet was less consistently good than breakfast: Scandi nights were very good, Italian night was awful [and not very Italian.] 5. The brasserie was fine, but it is approached by an area that resembles a municipal hall; the evening we ate there some people had been seated at overflow tables in this area. 6. The ski-in and out was easy skiing right to the door and a well organised locker room. The only problem [which is not the hotel's responsibility] is that the lifts start at 0900hrs, but so does ski school, so the day begins with a short uphill hike, carrying skis, to get on the magic carpet up to the Meeting Point. 7. The staff were all helpful and friendly, but check-in was slow, with only two of four desks staffed: we came off the Oslo bus, so the need for more was predictable.

Fabulous room, ski in ski out was a real bonus. Food was good quality with plenty of choice. Drinks are expensive, but lots of water on offer if you don't want to splash out. I honestly didn't rate the Brasserie very highly, it wasn't worth the extra money in my opinion, having said that the staff and the atmosphere were excellent. I agree with other previous reviews, the pool is too cold @ 29 degC!
