We stayed at the The Myrkdalen Hotel which is right on the ski slopes. The restaurant actually overlooks the slopes. The hotel is quite large. It is modern and very clean. The food was excellent and had a good choice of vegetarian food and for myself with a nut allergy. We stopped for just two nights just after Christmas.....it is excellent if all you want to do is ski or snowboard and is a very snow sure resort. The views into the valleys are wonderful from the top of the mountains.

Small and peaceful little place. Excellent service, rooms and attention to detail. The terrain although not big by standard European standards was very impressive! Having skied in many many different resorts and countries I was very surprised by the piste conditions and more importantly the snow conditions, in a good way. For the second week of December which would generally be seen as a gamble in say the Alps, the snow was excellent, I think 180/80 off the top of my head, in addition lots of fresh and easily accessible powder. If you are researching Myrkdalen and conditions, many of the usual snow report site out there just aren't correct as they obviously don't have people in resort, use the main Myrkdalen site which has an English option. Conditions, webcams and up to date info is available there. I would highly recommend this trip, certainly if you're learning or say in your second week of skiing as my partner was. So quiet, at times it feels like you have the mountain to yourself!!
