Our two bed family apartment / room was on the the first floor (but actually ski in / out from the back patio of the room). The room was great with five of us and had a small kitchen, living room and dining table (which we never used). Food is an excellent buffet for breakfast (where you can also get family paper bags to make a lunch - Norwegians think this is absolutely normal and they hate waste), while dinner is a set menu 4 nights, with a vast buffet 3 nights. It is excellent food but not 'haute cuisine'.

The staff at both Vestlia are charming and available, and it always seems as if everything is right there when you need it, from signage to water to bins to housekeeping. Enormous and well-maintained softplay; excellent food all day long; clean and spacious common areas; comfy rooms. The bowling was lots of fun too. Can't fault it! We'll be back and will continue to tell all our ski-oriented friends.

Vestlia is not an especially attractive hotel from the outside but more importantly, lovely inside. The lighting is dim throughout the public areas which makes it cosy, as does the under-floor heating. I don't know what the max capacity is but we were there at New Year and it didn't feel over-full. We were a family of 5 in a 2-bedroom suite. The children's bedroom was tiny but that wasn't a problem as they spent their time in the living room and kitchen. The kitchen was surprisingly well equipped. We had booked DBB but we definitely could have cooked reasonable evening meals in the kitchen. The entrance hall in the suite was spacious, with plenty of room (and hooks!) for ski wear\equipment. We didn't use the Spa but the children used the pool most days and it wasn't too busy, some evenings they had the whole pool to themselves by 9pm. Two tips - ask at reception for swimming pool towels, don't use the ones from your room and on a different note, remember that even if you have booked DBB, you still need to book a table for dinner, popular times go very quickly!
