The accommodation was clean and basic, I would definitely take my own towels and pillows and maybe some food for when you arrive. They were simply furnished but we could not get the TV working the whole time we were there. Not a problem to go without but we spent some time trying to make it work then gave up. Excellent Wifi and plentiful hot water and heating, if anything the cabins get very hot. The beds were soft but quite comfy. They were a 5 min walk to ski school and the lifts so very conveniently placed, however 25 min walk to town and the supermarket, which was a bit of hassle after a day of skiing. I would recommend the cabins, they were fine for a family.

We love these cabins! They are perfect for young families - lots of space, really well-equiped, very clean and comfortable but no fancy decor that you would worry the children might damage! Very handy for the slopes - we were probably in the furthest away cabin but it only took about 5 mins to walk to the ski-school/troll club area. It was easy to go back for lunches and just give the kids a bit of time-out. I took lots of toys that didnt get played with because the kids just played ouside the cabins in the snow and we could keep an eye on them through the windows. We had a hire car to get around the village which was ideal for getting supplies. Be aware that the cabins have a dishwasher, coffee maker (there were plenty of filters in the cupboard) but no microwave! We had a lovely time and these cabins are great if you want to have a relaxing family ski holiday!

We had two families (4 adults, 5 children aged 6-10) sharing a 5 bed cabin. Plenty of space and well equipped, with very comfortable beds and nice showers. They are quite spread out so no noisy neighbours, and we were lucky enough to be just a few minutes walk from the bottom of the slopes and ski lesson meeting point. Quite a trek to the supermarket (actually, not too far there, but felt a long way back with heavy shopping!) and limited catering options our side of the resort, though we had some nice meals at the Vestilia Hotel.

We stayed in the Geilolia Forest Cabins for a week in the Easter school holidays with our 4 year old and 10 month old. Our son had lessons and our daughter went to the creche for an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon. Both the lessons and creche were fantastic. The slopes were very quiet with no queues for the lifts. The resort was perfect for me as an intermediate skier with limited time to actually ski. For my husband (an advanced skier) it was a limited resort but it was a sacrifice he was happy to make in order to have a relaxed winter family holiday. The cabins were perfectly located for returning to for relaxed lunches and naps. Equally there was a typical ski cafe/restaurant at the bottom of the slopes where we sometimes ate lunch. The cabins are cosy and simple and surrounded by snow for our son to play in. There is no hairdryer so I would recommend bringing one. The walk to the shops is worth doing without children; we had the benefit of a buggy to carry our shopping back to the cabin. We enjoyed using the pool at the Vestlia hotel. It is pricey but worth the money (note that it is cheaper Monday to Thursday). All in all a perfect winter holiday for our family.

Really enjoyed our second stay at the Geilolia Forest Cabins. The generous size of the space and the thoughtful fittings are perfect for this family. For instance heated floors in the bathroom and boot warmers in the lobby, well filled log store, balcony, snow garden and well equipped kitchen make it far more welcoming than the average alpine hutch. It's a couple of minutes walk to the lifts and you can leave your skis etc in the ski centre over night. Excellent internet, good enough for streaming, great log fire, sauna, beds could be a bit more generous for the bigger folk but it's a minor point in the scheme of things. As well as the 1 downstairs and 2 upstairs bedroom there's another bed on the mezzanine upstairs. I could see though that bathing arrangements might be a bit tight with 7 people and you may want the bigger cabin. Particulary useful for younger families as the kids can go home for lunch/naps and make snowmen in the garden. The kitchen was well enough equipped to make casseroles and bakes with a full oven, 4 rings, dishwasher, fridge freezer, dishes for oven bakes etc (take salt pepper, herbs as none in the house- food basics are suitable for breakfast/lunch). One downside is that the lovely spar shop 10 minutes walk away has relocated into town. This means a 20-25 minute walk into a very nice new store but we found when laden with heavy shopping a taxi was needed to get home. These cost about 115kr one way so it was worth being organised. I think the ski bus would be another possibility. Cleaning service will come in on departure per the Ski Safari booking details but please leave the cabin tidy.

The cabin was comfortable and well equipped. A bath would have been nice but the sauna made up for that. Comfortable beds. Quiet with a nice view ( we stayed at no 7). Restricted head height in the upstairs bedrooms. The wonderful thing was the location- just a few minutes walk from the slopes and you can leave your equipment in the ski centre so you don't need to carry it at all. Very good value. The only slight gripe is you have to clean at the end or incur an additional charge

Cabin was huge and so warm! We were too hot, bring some t-shirts to wear in the cabin! It was delightful, in the middle of trees, snow everywhere, really beautiful location. Easy walk to ski rental, lifts, ski school. We didn't use the Vestlia resort but you could go swimming there and go and use the play area for a fee. We were happy to chill out in our cabin and play games, watch tv. We took a laptop to watch films on. Log fire was great fun. Used the sauna too as a luxury! Find the short cut to the supermarket through the woodland track, it's quicker than the main road. Hire a toboggan from the rental shop too to help lugging back the shopping. Take your own booze/wine. The child care was really cute and cosy. We only used it once but it was really quiet, the kids were happy and everyone I spoke to who used it was very happy with it. You can pay by credit card and I found you didn't really need to book ahead. Ski instructors were great and either were English or spoke brilliant English. Maybe hire a ski guide to show you all the different tracks you could use. It was great skiing but not that many runs but there seemed to be lots of woodland tracks people were skiing on but not signposted so a ski guide could probably open up a lot more options for you. We didn't use it ourselves but apparently the ski bus was reliable and punctual. So that can give you more options the other side of the valley.
