Whilst Niseko is by far the largest resort in the area it was busier and less personal. Went here because we were meeting up with some friends. Not my first choice mainly because it is busier than the other resorts. Skiing was still great.

A few charming traditional Japanese streets, but mostly a modern resort and developing fast. Good lift system and no queues except at weekend.

More international feel, plenty to explore. Worth getting a guide and heading out to neighbouring resorts.
Mountain eating options are a bit disappointing.

Brilliant snow! A good range of pistes and off piste. Lift system needs investment.

Excellent Resort with friendly locals and a great vibe. Great snow conditions while we were there and well worth the trip. Busy getting out of Hirafu on the Gondola in the morning so best to get on the 8am Hanazono shuttle from Hirafu which gets you to the Hanazono Base for 8.20am and no queue for the 8.30am opening.

Loved the convenience but I would warn that Niseko is hugely touristy, so if after the authentic Japanese experience, perhaps Kiroro or Rusutsu might be other good options. Niseko offers a great central location to access lots of other areas and saves moving hotels!

The resort was very snowy on arrival, accommodation was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed skiing as the runs were quiet but snow conditions excellent. Food in restaurants on the runs was very good quality and variety.
