Summary

Capital of Iceland, Reykjavik’s colourful buildings, fantastic museums and funky bars are clustered into a small city that’s easy to explore in a day.

With crisp air and a snowy mountain backdrop, it’s a fitting addition to a ski holiday. A free stopover option when travelling to Denver with Icelandair, spending a night here can be cheaper than flying direct to the US - you’ll also get ski baggage included in the cost of your flight. And, with affordable accommodation and tours, making the most of your time in Reykjavik won't break the bank.

Just outside the city, the country’s natural wonders await. From spouting geysers and ancient volcanoes, to humpback whales and geothermal spas, it’s surprisingly easy to pack a lot in with well-organised excursions and excellent guides - just ask our team to book this ahead for you.

Another thing that really makes a Reykjavik stopover stand out is the Northern Lights. Seeing this mesmerising display dance across the night sky is a truly phenomenal experience - we can’t recommend an evening excursion enough.

Suggested itinerary: 2 nights

This sample three-day itinerary is our suggestion of how you get the most from your Reykjavik stopover. All our holidays are completely customisable, so you can adjust the itinerary and duration to suit your preferences.

Day 1 - The city

Arrive into Reykjavik in the afternoon and transfer to your hotel. Spend the evening exploring the city and enjoying Iceland’s cuisine - the smoked lamb and local fish are excellent.

Day 2 - Natural wonders

Join the Golden Circle Tour to see geothermal geysers, thundering waterfalls and sparkling glaciers. Alternatively, go whale watching or join a city tour. In the evening, hop on the coach for a three-hour Northern Lights experience.

Day 3 - Blue Lagoon

Check out of your hotel and visit the famous Blue Lagoon en route to the airport. Fly to Denver in the afternoon.

Every holiday is tailor-made, just for you.

Fantastic to be able to have a 'free' 3 day. Would recommend doing it on the way out rather than on the way back. Great to have the free northern Lights tour. Recommended Hotel Marina excellent.

Just returned yesterday from a fantastic skiing holiday in Breckenridge. Flying with Icelandair and stopping over for two nights in Iceland was terrific. Flights to Denver, airport transfers, accommodation in Main Street Station were also superb. Breckenridge resort and skiing was fantastic. We also shuttled over and skied in Vail for the day. Thank you for all your help and assistance in making our holiday so hassle free and just superb.
