Second time to Whistler - excellent resort with really good facilities for all ages and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Really large ski area with quiet lifts, even at weekends. Excellent snow conditions this year - beautiful blue skies as well so perfect visibility. Lots of restaurant options to suit every price requirement. Really non-slope activities as well so plenty to do in the later afternoons/evenings.

Great skiing for all abilities with varied terrain of tree skiing and open bowls. We arrived to a major storm that dumped a lot of snow but did impact on visibility for a few days and caused the top lifts to be closed.. So we made the most of clear days going up top and pretty much skied the whole area. The temperatures for the first week or so were well below average with -14 degrees but when it started to warm up we then had to cope with a lot of wet snow. It started raining heavily the night before we left so felt we got the better deal. With mountain restaurants all being owned by the one company it didn't really matter where we stopped in terms of price. But we liked Chic Pea as it didn't attract the huge numbers that Round House and Rendezvous got every day. We got wise to weekend queues after our first Saturday and just left it until later to go up the Creekside gondola.

A big resort with an extensive trail system. We stayed on Blackcombe and with the exception of a few lifts and rare bottlenecks on the trails, you're unlikely to queue for long. Getting from Blackcomb to Whistler mountain is very easy being skiable/rideable as well as walkable within a couple of minutes. We were pretty unlucky with the snow as there was very little fresh snow throughout the two week stay. Thankfully the base was good enough that there was never any problem to ski or ride. We stayed here off peak and for such a big place, with so many restaurants, getting a table for dinner was often a challenge. Not impossible by any stretch but essentially, you need to book every day or be prepared to wait an hour or two. Not a huge problem as there are plenty of bars etc that you can easily pass time in. Whilst on the subject of food and drink, with the exception of margaritas in the Mexican restaurant, the cocktails everywhere are terrible!! Seriously, we tried everywhere from the 5* hotels and high end restaurants to dirty dives and the cocktails are basically just ice and mixer. Luckily, there seems to be a shed load of micro breweries pumping out some pretty decent beers and you can get good wine everywhere. Being the mega star tourist destination that Whistler is, it's a bit like Disneyland for winter sports; vast, polished and for the most part, well organised. What you won't find however is charm. Whistler won't deliver an 'authentic' experience. Service nearly everywhere is exceptional, as it is through most of BC and Alberta, but that can't be put down to Canadian hospitality as you're unlikely to meet a local; the population seems to be 90% seasonaire and you'll meet a lot more Antipodeans than you will Canadians. All in all, it was good and I'd probably go back..... just not in a hurry.

Very Large Mountain, only a couple of pinch points at the weekend. Lots of variety to the slopes and plenty of variety of restaurants / shops in the resort.
